In 1985, a handful of Park La Brea residents gathered because a problem needed solving. They solved it — and then they kept going. What followed was four decades of quiet, specific, effective advocacy: the kind that shows up as a line item in your utility bill correction, or as a key fob in your child’s hand, or as asbestos disclosure that management owed you but did not volunteer.
PLBRA meets monthly at the Park La Brea Theater. The same theater where, as one longtime member wrote, “like a lot of you, I miss the movies shown in our beloved PLB theater.” That line is the whole thing — forty years of institutional memory held by people who remember what the place used to be and care deeply about what it becomes.
These are not abstract victories. They are the difference between living in a managed property and living in a community. PLBRA is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit. It does not represent management. It represents you.

PLBRA pressed management for resident notification of asbestos conditions in the buildings, protecting residents from exposure they were not warned about.
After sustained advocacy, residents received city-backed credits for years of water and sewer utility overcharges — including a disclosed calculation method they were previously denied.
PLBRA secured building key fob issuance for children across the community, ensuring every family had full access to their own building.
Coordinated with city representatives to address the encampment on the community boundary, restoring safety and access for residents along that corridor.
Voting membership is $20 per person annually — $30 per household. That is all it costs to elect the Board, run for the Board, and ensure PLBRA speaks for you when it matters most. Our newsletter keeps you informed between meetings.
